Gallbladder
Cleanse
The gallbladder is usually not a source of medical problems,
but there are a couple o things that can happen which are also
painful for the person suffering from them. The gallbladder can
be diseased, develop polyps or gallstones, become inflamed or
too much sludge can build up inside of the organ. Most doctors
just want to remove it, but not everyone is for that much
intervention and they then look for other ways of dealing with
these problems. One of the alternative and natural ways of
handling such conditions is to do a gallbladder cleanse.
Some people refer to a gallbladder cleanse as a gallbladder
flush and this name probably comes from the fact that
gallstones are flushed out of the organ and then the body.
This cleansing is
performed by keeping a strict diet for several days that
includes foods known for having laxative properties and which
help to stimulate the gallbladder so it releases any stones
that have built up. A cleansing diet consists of olive oil,
fruit juices and herbs which are combined and then made into a
drink or digested with other simple foods. There are also foods
to be avoided during this time period, such as those high in
cholesterol and starches.
A gallbladder cleanse, however, can also be a useful measure
for preventing gallstones from building or getting too big. It
is a good idea to try cleansing every so often if you know that
you are pre-disposed for gallbladder problems. The people who
have to worry the most about gallbladder disease, cancer,
polyps or gallstones are usually women, have a family history
of these problems, are overweight or obese and who notice that
they are sensitive to greasy foods. This sensitivity to foods
may be a sign that gallstones are already there because foods
cooked in a lot of grease and which are high in fat are known
to be triggers for a gallbladder attack.
Once the gallbladder cleanse diet has started, many notice that
the body rids itself of many stone like structures which are
seen in stool. These may or may not be gallstones, but in any
case a diet like this cannot hurt and may help to prevent any
gallbladder symptoms or gallstones from ever
forming.
